About the Work
This artwork explores the conflict that exists at the boundary between self-expression and the expression of others. Initially conceived as a self-portrait featuring a woman’s face combined with motifs of bones and flowers, it transformed into an expression of others based purely on inspiration after the artist experienced a sorrowful ordeal and lost himself amid intense emotions.
Doves, symbols of peace, fly around the woman’s face, and the Japanese title means “A Certain Scene.” At the time of creation, neither the coronavirus nor war existed in the world. Considering this, perhaps this final form holds greater appeal as a work of art.
For many artists, becoming a sacrifice is an honor. They find value in the monotonous process of creation and regard the finished work as merely incidental. However, there also exists a strong desire to approach God in the flesh, which, like an infant seeking its mother’s love, is equally pleasing to God.
Currently, notions of good and evil are intertwined in the superficial world, and the energies of the fundamental world continue to change. It feels as if humanity is being watched to see which path it will choose. However, whether a baby cries or laughs, it remains an adorable being, and to God, all beings are always objects of His affection.
I pray that this work becomes a small record of history and a blessing for a new world.
