A self-portrait, though not a likeness. The horns are not an affliction visited from outside; they are what the scars became. What wounds a person eventually takes a shape, and asks to be seen. Since his teenage years, the artist has sought forms through which the archetypes within might be given a face — here, the face of a white oni.
