When the world was engulfed by the spread of an infectious disease, waves of sorrowful thoughts flowed in from all around the city. Ladles disappeared from shrines, and supermarket shelves stood empty — the world was about to be reborn. Troubled, I kept asking myself what role art could play in such a world. Like filtering the thoughts received from the great surges of the world, I projected them into my work with a mind emptied of self. In the end, what remained was "prayer."
